The advantage of using APR is that you don't have to buy extra hardware such as specialized telephony boards that increase the cost of creating a call recorder. 

Voice modems evolved from their strengths in data communications to include fax and limited voice capabilities. Products designed for telephony are typically far more advanced in dealing with voice telephony. 
We have discovered that recommending specific voice modems is very difficult. It seems the various models would be gone as quickly as they appeared. Sometimes replaced by a similar model - newer, cheaper, but frequently lacking previously working features. Sometimes although the model number did not even change, what was actually in the box did.

We regularly survey modems and contact our customers for feedback to obtain more information about common modems which support V.253 / IS-101 voice standard.

We must emphasize that we cannot guarantee the compatibility of any particular modem. The information below is based on customer reports. Sometimes a modem will work on one computer and not on another. You will also note that there are some inconsistent reports in the list below. If you have doubts, purchase the modem from a store that has a return policy and test it.
